The Elkins Fish & Game Club 5th Annual Lake-a-Thon is on July 2, 2017.

We use this event to generate funds to give local area kids scholarships to Barry Conservation Camp in Milan, NH.   Our goal is to provide these children with memories that will last them a lifetime.   Please come out and enjoy our activities and support our scholarship efforts.

9:00 AM to 3:00 PM - NH Fish & Game watershed information and exhibits on aquatic life.
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM - Elkins Fish & Game Club migratory bird and wildlife exhibits.
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM - Cardboard Boat Regatta boat inspection and judging.
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM - NH Fish & Game Let's Go Fishing class.
10:00 AM to 11:00 AM - Fly fishing and fly tying demonstration.
11:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Carboard Boat Regatta boat racing.
1:00 PM to 2:00 PM - Wood duck lecture and wood duck box building class.
2:00 PM to 3:00 PM - Cardboard Boat Regatta trophy and prize presentations.


Cardboard Boat Regatta

People will be building their cardboat boats and bringing them to the event, where they will be judged for creativity and construction. Then later in the day we will take them to the boat ramp on Pleasant Lake to paddle them through the water course. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winners.
This will be lots of fun for both kids and adults, so join in!

Let's Go Fishing program

NH Fish & Game Department instructors will conduct a classroom session and a "hand-on" session to teach folks how to fish. The classroom seesion will be on Friday, June 30th, at 6:00 PM, at the Lake Sunapee Bank Community Room at 116 Newport Road in New London. The "hands-on" session will be part of the Lake-a-Thon activities on Sunday, July 2nd, at 9:00 AM, at the dam area on Pleasant Lake, off Elkins Road in New London.

Wildlife Exhibits

Exhibits of local area wildlife will be on display. Specimens will include many migratory birds, and a tactile display of pelts, feathers, and antlers. Information on the exhibits will be on hand to give people a better understanding of these items.

NH Fish & Game Watershed and Aquatic Life Exhibit

NH fish & Game experts will be on hand to talk about watershed projects going on in the state, and will have exhibits of aquatic life for attendees to see and touch. Information on aquatic programs will be distributed.

Wood Duck Lecture and Box Building

The Elkins Fish & Game Club will give a lecture on wood ducks and talk about the club's efforts to increase the wood duck population in this area. They will show how wood duck boxes are used and maintained, and how they can be constructed.

Campership Cash Raffle

The club is selling tickets to its Campership Cash Raffle to generate the funds to send kids to Barry Conservation Camp.
First Prize is $1000, Second Prize is $700, and Third Prize is $500.
Tickets cost $10 and only 500 tickets will be sold. With the limited number of tickets being sold you have a good chance of winning!!! The winners will be drawn on October 4th.
